Published 8:59am Tuesday, August 24, 2010Betty R. Rhea, 80, of Harvest, formerly of Florence, passed away at her home Sunday morning, Aug. 15, 2010.
Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, Betty lived for many years in Florence and moved to Harvest in 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Kenneth. Betty was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and greatly enjoyed her time spent as a Red Cross volunteer. She and her husband, Lauren were married for 62 years and would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on September 29th. Other survivors include her children: Linda Ann Baker, Anniston; Karen Wales & Donna Jones, both of Huntsville, Marilyn Rhea, Muscle Shoals; Marcy Rhea, of Holden, Missouri; Margie Reed, Rebecca Rhea, Charles Kirby Rhea and James Allen Rhea, all of Florence; Sisters: Laura Murphy and Dorothy Dwinell, of Cape Coral, Florida, 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 am Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Madison Chapel Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10 am. Interment will follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
