Soldiers distribute food to residents
Published 5:49pm Saturday, April 30, 2011Battalion 441 and EOD’s 641, 666 and 111 set up post in the Sparkman High School parking lot Saturday, April 30, to hand out water and MRE’s to area residents.
“Having experienced hurricanes in the Mobile area, whenever they’re in need, we’re more than willing to help out,” said Sgt. Keith Miller.
Cars were able to simply pull into the parking lot and have the supplies loaded into their trunks.
The food distribution was set-up by the Mobile County Sheriffs Department and food and water was provided by the National Guard.
Two military teams were dispatched in the area to distribute needed equipment such as chainsaws and generators.
Miller said he expects the team to reside in the area for at least five to seven days.
