Endeavor students hold yard sale to benefit area tornado victims

Published 3:19pm Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Endeavor Elementary School in Harvest is having a yard sale to raise money for students and faculty members whose homes and property were damaged during tornadoes that passed through the area.

The school had a counselor, a custodian, a bus driver, two teachers and eight families that had total loss or major damage to their homes due to the tornado that passed through Harvest that day.

“They were all affected in some major way,” said school reading coach Dr. Tonii Clemons. “The Building Leadership Team asked what they could do to help out and this idea came up.”

The yard sale will be in Endeavor’s gym this Saturday June 4 from 8 a.m. until.

Clemons said the gym is already stacked with items to sale. The next step is to get rid of everything, which includes household items like furniture and children’s toys.

“The response has been overwhelming,” Clemons said. “It’s amazing how the community came together to help us out.

Clemons said monies raised will be distributed among those who were affected.

“Please come out and purchase these items for a good cause,” she said. “The more we sell, the more we can give. That’s for sure.”
