Madison boys take part in Alabama Boys StatePublished 11:21am Friday, June 10, 2011
Alabama Boys State, a leadership and citizenship training program, chose more than 20 young men from the Madison County area.
The program is sponsored by the American Legion.
Qualifications for being chosen include demonstration of leadership, hard work, strong morals and motivation in school as well as community services. The program is for rising high school seniors.
Guest speakers included Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange, Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb, Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jim Main, University of Alabama head football coach Nick Saban and NBA star Dwight Howard.
The boys chosen from the Madison County area included:
