Madison Academy looks to improve its playoff position Friday night with a win against rival Geraldine. Geraldine is playing to keep its post season chances alive.
In last week’s game against Pisgah, Madison Academy won easily 35-0. It was a nightmare game for Pisgah who punted six times and couldn’t get anything going. Madison Academy stuck to its balanced offensive plan and finished with 367 yards total offense, including Quarterback Hunter Olive’s 152 yards of passing in only 14 attempts.
That balanced attack, and a stingy run defense, should help the Mustangs beat Geraldine, who at 4-3 is fighting for its life in the region. Geraldine won its game against Brindlee Mountain last week 34-7 with 412 yards total offense. That sounds impressive, until you see the whole picture: all 412 yards were gained on the ground, making the offense somewhat one-dimensional. Geraldine’s passing game hasn’t been much of a factor all year and if Madison Academy can stop the Bulldog’s ground game, the Mustangs should add a game to the Win column and take another step toward the playoffs.
