Madison County Commission Chairman Mike Gillespie will not seek re-election after his term is over.
Gillespie, 64, is in his eighth four-year term as Chairman of the Madison County Commission was first elected in 1980.
For the past 30 years, Gillespie has promoted cooperation, unity and teamwork between Huntsville, Madison and all the municipalities of Madison County, resulting in strong, prosperous growth that has improved the quality of life for all the residents of Madison County.
“Mike Gillespie has over 30 years of service to our community and deserves our thanks” said District Four Commissioner Dale Strong. “We didn’t agree on everything but Mike loves this county and was always ready to work with anyone to help us grow and prosper.
I consider him a friend and I know that he will continue to be an asset for our community.”
