Rocket City Gamers an experience for all

“Gaming” is a huge industry in our country, and Madison County is no exception. There are many followers who love to get together with other gamers and play for hours. It is a hobby that has become competitive for some and just a form of relaxation and fun for others.

If you have been looking for a group or forum to share your gaming with, you’re in luck. Rocket City Gamers is a local group of citizens who come together and share their interests in gaming from all forms, including board games such as chess to miniatures such as Warhammer Fantasy and even cards and computer games.

What some might not realize is that these games are much more than games; they open your mind to creativity and even engineering aspects through using math, measurement and estimation concepts to build a better experience for all who play. The gaming world of miniatures is a perfect example of this, as you can paint, build terrain, measure board space for your battlefield and plot out your technique and execution for the game itself.

Rocket City Gamers has about a hundred active gamers in the community who get together about twice a month at The Madison Courthouse from 6-10 p.m. and enjoy sharing their experiences and ideas with each other through play. Gaming allows you to get away from everyday stresses and just be a kid again, all while allowing conceptual brain activity to take place; a great experience for any and all. According to Jeff Lamb, an avid gamer and Rocket City Gamer member, this group allows a face to face social aspect of gaming and even allows him some special bonding time with his son, who enjoys gaming also.
