Less than 300 HU customers remain without powerPublished 11:53am Saturday, March 3, 2012
Less than 300 Huntsville Utilities customers remain without power as a result of Friday’s tornadoes.
HU Crews are working, with the support of additional crews from Scottsboro and Decatur, in the most heavily damaged areas where poles, lines, and other infrastructure need to be replaced. Damage assessments include the loss of approximately 75 concrete and wooden poles, which have to be completely replaced.
Huntsville Utilities is asking residents to remain patient while crews are working. They also urge residents to stay away from damaged areas where repairs are being made. Utility officials expect progress restoring power to continue through the day today, with repairs completed and power restored during the day Sunday.
As many as 35,000 customers lost power in the first round of storms that moved through Madison County Friday.
