Local student dies in crash

Alabama State Troopers said one teenager is dead following a one-vehicle wreck in Meridianville  Wednesday evening.

Jeremy Pinder, a sophomore at Hazel Green High School died in the accident on Patterson Lane near Harwell Lane in Meridianville.

According to Alabama State Troopers Pinder was driving a white truck when he came around a curve and hit an embankment. He lost control, and the truck flipped on its side.

Officials said the boy was not wearing a seat belt and speed may have been a factor.

Jeremy was 16 years old and a member of the Hazel Green golf team.

According to a statement made by Madison County Schools Director of Communications “Superintendent David Copeland and the Madison County School family stand ready to assist the Pinder family in any way possible.”
