Robbery task force arrests two in HuntsvillePublished 3:07pm Tuesday, May 29, 2012
The Huntsville Police Department’s Robbery Task Force kept busy this weekend when they arrested two men suspected of recent robberies.
The Force arrested Demario Battle, 22, around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, May 26 for the robbery of a Dollar General store. He was also charged with driving the getaway car during the robbery of the North Alabama Educators Credit Union May 20.
Lavonte Rice, 18, was also arrested for robbing the Dollar General store and in connection with a purse snatching at Parkway Place mall.
A juvenile was also arrested in the case, but his name cannot be released.
Communications Relations officer Dr. Harry Hobbs said in a released statement that two handguns were recovered during the arrests.
“These arrests were a product of good investigative work from our Robbery Task Force and assistance from the Madison County District Attorneys’ Investigators,” Hobbs said.
“Our department is also working with our local DA’s office to revoke bond on all three suspects. Currently the records show at least two of the suspects were out on bond at the time of their arrests.”
Hobbs said this is an active ongoing investigation.
“We feel there is possibility of more arrests and charges that will follow against these three subjects as more evidence is discovered,” he said. “We also feel we are closing in on more suspects that may have been involved in the recent dollar store robberies.”
