Store clerk shoots and kills would be robber

A Huntsville gas station clerk shot and killed a would be armed robber when the robber entered his store overnight.

According to Huntsville Police the clerk at the Atlantis Corner store located on Old Monrovia Road at Perimeter Parkway NW was alone when the robber Rodney Cordell Pride entered the business around 9 p.m. Police said he was armed and intended to rob the store.

Officers said the clerk shot the robber inside the store. Pride tried to run but collapsed onto the street outside, he was taken to Huntsville Hospital by HEMSI where he died.

Police believe Pride may be connected to several other gas station robberies in the area.

The clerk has not been identified, and will not face any charges.

According to police reports this month There has a been at least one business robbed 13 out of the last 14 days in Huntsville.
