H&M opens at Bridge Street

It’s finally here.

The long-awaited H&M clothing store opened Thursday, June 14 at Bridge Street Town Centre.

Hundreds upon hundreds of people were waiting in line long before the doors opened.

Chandler Waite was the first customer in line. He had been there since 11 p.m. the previous night.

“H&M has cutting edge fashion and there’s a lot of people in our area that are interested in that, so I just wanted to come and support them,” Waite said. “The prices are college friendly and there are always a lot of choices. I’m really excited.”

Besides the store in Atlanta, Ga., the Huntsville location is the only other store in the southeastern portion of the United States.

“For H&M, right now, the South is a big expansion focus for us, so when it comes down to where we want to open our next store, it’s all about location,” said H&M spokesperson Dawn Abotsi.

Abotsi said she’s frequently asked why stores are opened in one location as opposed to other places.

“It really just comes down to the best location at that time,” she said.

“We’re so happy to bring H&M and fashion and quality to the area.”

Store hours will be Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. The store can be reached at (256) 466-7476.
