Multiple fire crews battle structure firePublished 3:41pm Monday, July 2, 2012
Several fire crews were called to a house fire at a home at 102 Horse Pin Place around 1:30 p.m. Monday.
Smoke could be seen from highway 72 in Madison and flames were shooting through the roof and windows when firefighters arrived.
Neighbors said that one teenage boy was home when the fire started, but he got out unharmed. The young man said he was not sure how or where the fire started, but neighbors said the fire had fully engulfed the garage as they called 911.
The Monrovia Fire Department was assisted by the Madison Fire Department, Harvest Volunteer Fire Department, and Toney Volunteer Fire Department was also called to the scene. Numerous volunteers helped distribute water to the firefighters to help them stay hydrated as temps and the heat index readings are in the90s today.
