Each year, more than 5 million people learn how to save a life in American Red Cross training classes.
The Huntsville American Red Cross is offering CPR/AED courses to make heroes out of everyday people.
The First Aid and CPR/AED course will teach people how to perform CPR and use an AED, what to do if someone is choking, and how to prevent and respond to other emergencies until advanced medical help arrives. Course participants also learn how to control bleeding as well as how to care for seizures and other sudden illnesses.
“This goes along with our mission to help people be prepared for emergencies,” Sparks said. “One of the things research has shown throughout the years is when an individual is trained and knows what to do, they may be panicked at first, but recollect what they’re supposed to do and go into action.”
Classes began today and will last until July 30.
