Goga members shake for health

For most people, the idea of a 10-minute, no work workout sounds too good to be true.

However, many of those who visit the Goga Studio at 10971 County Line Rd. in Madison are learning otherwise. Since their doors opened on Dec. 1, 2011, owners Tony and Doris Sensenberger and manager Lynsi Sensenberger have been hearing and witnessing testimonials from members who have seen significant improvement in their overall health and fitness.

“Our catchphrase is the 10-minute, no work workout,” Lynsi Sensenberger said. “Not only are you creating involuntary muscle contractions, you’re also increasing circulation and stimulating cells throughout your body. The health benefits are endless.”

Goga Studios use whole body vibration machines that allow people to experience an oscillating rocking movement, which simulates a walking motion. This movement triggers thousands of involuntary muscle contractions that naturally stimulate the body, even as deep as your tissue and cells.

Because this is happening so quickly, ten minutes on one of these low impact, FDA approved class-one medical devices is equivalent to an hour long workout.

“Members can use the machines up to twice a day, six days a week,” Sensenberger said. “It is recommended that members come in around three times a week to see results.”

Visiting Goga studios regularly also has other benefits. In addition to whole body vibration, members have access to two Far Infrared Saunas, Ionized Alkaline Water, and Himalayan Salt, all of which cleanse the body while providing health benefits such as weight control, disease prevention and increased concentration, respectively.

“My favorite part of what I do is educating people on the technology of Whole Body Vibration and the benefits, not only in fitness aspects but in health aspects, and letting them know that no matter what your limits or end-goals are, we’re here to help,” Sensenberger said.

A monthly membership to the Goga studio costs $49 a month. There are one month, three month, six month and one year memberships, plus day-passes available. There are no sign-up fees or contracts, plus you have up to five days to try the technology for free and witness the results for yourself.

One advantage of Goga is that it’s good for just about everyone in the family. Even elderly people can use the machines because they are low-impact and safe.

“Goga is for anybody 12 years or older,” Sensenberger said. “It’s excellent for all age groups, athletes, and the aging populations- it’s excellent for building core strength.”

The Madison Goga studio was the first in Alabama, and they serve as ambassadors for the rest of Alabama to help other people who are interested in opening a Goga franchise. There are now Goga studios in Huntsville and Hampton Cove as well.

“The franchise has been around for about a year, and it’s sweeping the nation,” Sensenberger said. “Being the first studio and being new in the area, we’ve definitely had a great response. Our members love it and they’ve been really helpful about referring us. We build relationships so people are comfortable when they come in.”

One member in a testimonial said, “The first three months I lost 24 inches. I have so much more energy during the day and sleep better at night. I have more patience, and less stress. It has changed my life for the better and continues to on a daily basis.”

Of course, the only way to know for sure if Goga works is to try it yourself.

“To anyone that comes in the door but still isn’t sure, it only takes 10 minutes and you’ll feel a difference,” Sensenberger said. “We offer five-day trials, we promote it, we hand out coupons- we want people to try it because we stand behind what we do. This is why we don’t do contracts. The machines, the technology, and the health benefits will prove themselves.”
