The Highway Patrol Division of the Alabama Department of Public Safety will be at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center Tuesday conducting safety inspections on passenger carrier drivers and vehicles.
Inspections will be from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, 1 Tranquility Base.
The inspections are part of the National Passenger Carrier Strike Force, an initiative sponsored by the Federal Motor Safety Adminitration, which runs from Aug. 13 until Aug. 27. In addition to safety checks, the program carry out related enforcement activities.
Highway Patrol’s Motor Carrier Safety Unit will partner with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to increase the impact on passenger carrier safety.
Safety inspections will also occur in Montgomery and Mobile.
The inspection in Montgomery will be Aug. 20 from 9-11 a.m. at the Greyhound Bus Station, 950 W. South Boulevard. The inspection in Mobile will be from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. at Colonial Trailways, 2521 Halls Mill Road.
