Voters re-elected Tommy Battle to a second term as mayor of Huntsville.
Battle received about 80 percent of the votes. Former Mayor Loretta Spencer received about 15 percent of the votes , and Jackie Reed received about 4 percent of the votes.
Voters approved of the renewal of the education property tax. About 69 percent of voters choose to renew the 6 1/2 mil ad valorem tax.
Richard Showers Sr. won the City Council District 1 seat with about 62 percent of the votes. Gene Perry received about 38 percent of the votes.
Laurie Bone McCaulley took about 60 percent of the votes for District 1 Board of Education member. Pat King received about 28 percent of the vote. Reginald J. Hill II received about 7 percent of the votes. Gwendolyn Troup-Moore-Fagland received about 5 percent of the vote.
Michael Culbreath won about 59 percent of the vote for District 5 Board of Education member. Carlos Mathews won about 41 percent of the vote.
With results from 48 out of 51 precincts reporting, 28,370 voters cast ballots in Huntsville.
