Sonji Patterson, a member of the Northwest Huntsville Service Organization, is coordinating an event to open distribution centers for canned food donations from Dec. 12-18 to receive more food supply for the annual Christmas event.
Christmas Food Share is a collaborative effort between District 6 and NHSO to provide boxes of food for people with low income and the elderly on Dec. 19 and 20.
Over 600 boxes of food were distributed last year and wished to give out more.
This year’s food supply in the main distribution center is below what it normally receives this time of the year.
Donators can drop off can goods from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Charles Stone Agriculture Building at 819 Cooks Ave.
Individuals can also donate year around in a variety of ways, such as volunteering, giving monetary donations or donating food by the case. Donators can make checks payable to Northwest Huntsville Service Organization.
Patterson is accepting suggestions, questions and comments at 256-532-1505.
