Bank robbery suspects arrestedPublished 1:15pm Friday, January 25, 2013
HUNTSVILLE – On Thursday, Jan. 24, Investigators with the Huntsville Police Department’s Robbery Task Force arrested Christopher Alan Cooper, 33, of 1611 Wells Avenue in Huntsville with two counts of Robbery First Degree.
Police also charged an alleged accomplice, Julie Rhiannon Dye, 34, of Laceys Spring, with two counts of Robbery First Degree.
The charges stem from a December 12, 2012 robbery of the Regions Bank at 2511 South Memorial Parkway in Huntsville and the Jan. 18 robbery of the Regions Bank at 509 Drake Ave in Huntsville.
In both instances, the offender entered the bank and produced a note to the teller demanding money.
Following his arrest, it was learned that Cooper is a fugitive wanted in Kentucky for Robbery First Degree. He was therefore also charged with Fugitive From Justice.
Huntsville Police spokesperson Harry Hobbs said that investigators determined that Cooper may eventually be extradited to Kentucky.
“Kentucky has said they will extradite,” he said. “However he will have to face our charges first, so it likely will be quite a while before he goes anywhere.”
Agents with the Huntsville office of the FBI assisted in the investigation and federal charges in these two cases are possible.
