Huntsville police still searching for Chevron shooter

HUNTSVILLE — Huntsville police continue to search for a suspect wanted in a shooting that left a man critically injured on Saturday, Feb. 23.

The shooting occurred at the 2990 block of Jordan Ln. when according to police, Richard Smartt,25, was exiting the Chevron gas station with his girlfriend and was shot multiple times by an unknown subject.

Smartt suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Huntsville Hospital where he remains with the condition unknown.

According to Huntsville police, the suspect fled the scene in a “newer” Mercedes two-door vehicle. When captured, the suspect is expected to be charged with attempted murder.

No arrests have been made and the shooting remains under investigation.
