HUNTSVILLE — A normaly quiet area of south Huntsville was rocked on Sunday when two bodies were found in an apparent double homicide.
Huntsville Police responded to the Chicamauga Trail on Sunday in what apparently was supposed to be a call for a welfare check. Officers found the bodies of 32-year-old Krista Stone and 7-year-old Zachery Stone upon arrival.
The lone suspect in the case, Stephen “Marc” Stone, 33, turned himself in Sunday evening in Leeds, AL where, according to investigators, Stone’s mother lives.
“ He was taken into custody in by the Leeds Police Department and transported back to Huntsville by the HPD,” police spokesman Harry Hobbs said Sunday.
According to police, Stone’s other two children are in the custody of their grandparent’s.
Stone was officially charged with two counts of capital murder.
