Suspects sought in EZ Mart shooting

HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville Police are searching for suspects in a Saturday evening shooting at a Citgo gas station.

According to police, the victim Scott Allen Rider and a friend were waiting for a wrecker to tow Rider’s car at the 5990 Pulaski Pike convenience store.

While waiting, Rider was was approached by a vehicle occupied by multiple unknown black males who offered to sell Rider and his friend drugs. The friend went to return a phone book to the Citgo and upon returning, police say he saw Rider in a drug transaction with the men and noticed the three men attacking him.

Rider was able to break free from the offenders and began to flee on foot when one of the males fired two shots from a handgun striking Rider in the back. The offenders then fled on foot and in the vehicle.

Rider was transported to Huntsville Hospital with life threatening injuries but later downgraded after undergoing surgery  He is expected to make a full recovery.

Police are still searching for three black males and the investigation is ongoing.
