Madison County Record wins multiple APA awards

The Madison County Record took home seven awards from the Alabama Press Association for its 2013 Advertising Contest.

“Delivering award-winning marketing design and special products to our customers are important benchmarks for us, so we are pleased with the contest results,” said Erica Slone, president and publisher of Madison Publications LLC.

Awards included:

1st Place:

-Best Niche Publication: Madison County Record for Madison Living: May 2012 by staff

-Best One-Time Special Section: Madison County Record for Madison by staff

-Best Classified Display Ad: Madison County Record for Fiat of Huntsville ad by Erica Slone

2nd Place:

-Best Single Ad over 1/2 page color: Madison County Record for Fiat of Huntsville ad by Erica Slone

-Best Niche Publication: Madison County Record for Madison Living: September 2012 by staff

-Best Ad Campaign: Madison County Record for Progress Bank campaign by Erica Slone

-Best Original/Creative Idea: Madison County Record for “We always have the best scoop” ad by Erica Slone

3rd Place:

-Best Single Ad 1/2 Page and under-color: Madison County Record for Brock’s Jewlers ad by Myra Sawyer

-Best Niche Publication: Madison County Record for Madison Living: August 2012 by staff

-Best Original/Creative Idea: Madison County Record for Cowboy Kicks! ad by Myra Sawyer & Sarah Brewer

Slone said it is a humbling honor for her and her staff to be chosen among the best.

“While our primary goal each week is to inform and entertain our readership in every issue,” Slone said, “it’s always nice to be recognized by our peers for the work we produce.”

According to the APA, there were 1036 submissions this year from 35  newspapers. The winners were announced Monday, April 29.

The Record competed in Division D against other small weekly papers.

“Our main objective has been, and always will be, to work in the best interest of the communities were serve,” Slone said. “I am extremely proud of my staff, especially Myra Sawyer who dedicated months in marketing campaigns.”

Sawyer said she is thankful to have great customers who provide artwork and information on time.
“I am very thankful for my customers and I’m grateful to work at this wonderful company.”
