HUNTSVILLE — U.S. Rep Mo Brooks (R-AL) hosted a reception at the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library in honor of this year’s 9 U.S. Service Academies appointees from Madison County.
“These appointees represent some of the best and brightest young men in North Alabama. They have all demonstrated outstanding academic achievements, dedication and a desire to serve our nation,” Brooks said.
Appointees heading to the United States Military Academy include Cory Anderson from Pope John Paul II Catholic High School, Nick Beavers from Bob Jones High School, Dominique Bell from Lee High School, Alex Finney from Covenant Christian Academy and Scott von Jouanne from Bob Jones High School.
Noah Bradley from Pope John Paul II is headed to the Air Force Academy. Cole Peyton from Hazel Green High School will attend the Naval Academy. Brian Walker from Grissom High School will attend the Merchant Marine Academy. Austin Clark from James Clemens High School will attend the Coast Guard Academy.
Skyla Freeman with Brooks’ office said Brooks established a nominating board to review applications, interview prospective candidates and make final selection of Alabama District 5 nominees to be submitted to the academies. Nominations are determined using a competitive method with all nominees submitted unranked to the academies, allowing equal opportunity for each candidate nominated from the district.
