MADISON COUNTY — Construction on one Madison County road has caused minor traffic headaches already.
Workers began bridge demolition on Indian Creek bridge on July 22 on Blake Bottom Road. The now demolished bridge had been in the county since the early 1930′s and the new bridge will take around 4 months to build.
“We know this will be an inconvenience but when complete this new bridge will be safer and more suitable to handle the almost 11,000 vehicles that daily drive across Indian Creek bridge,” Madison County Commissioner Phil Vandiver said. “Please, bare with us and we promise to encourage the contractor to complete construction, as soon as possible. We realize progress can be painful but the improvement and investment are warranted.”
The site is 0.10 miles from Jeff Road and signs are in place to direct drivers to alternate routes along Bishop, Indian Creek, Old Monrovia, Douglass or Jeff Roads. Madison County Commission Information Director Missy Ming-Smith said around 11,000 travelers use the road each day and urges travelers to select an alternate route.
