Sparkman High School Medical Academy Health Occupations Students of American (HOSA) participated in the State HOSA Competition in Montgomery, AL February 20 and 21 with over 1200 other participants from across the state. The following students placed in the top 3 and qualify to go to the National HOSA Competition in Orlando. FL this summer:

> Pathophysiology – 1st place – Andrea Shull
> Dental Science – 1st place – Brandy Collum
> Sports Medicine – 2nd place – Damon Wheeler
> Veterinary Science – 2nd place – Julia Maier
> Community Emergency Response Team – 2nd place – Tyler Eberle and Hang Vu
> CPR/First Aid Team – 1st place – James Leslie and Adam Haverkamp
> Extemporaneous Health Poster – 1st place – Beryl Kessio
> Prepared Speaking – 2nd place – Desalyn Johnson
> Biomedical Debate – 1st place – Angel Bodrick, David Tweedy-Smith and Faith Raheem
> Creative Problem Solving Team – 2nd place – Brad Bayuga, Chase Ballard, Drew Jennings, and Matthew Wilson
