Patriots suffer 3rd straight loss
The Patriots are picking a bad time of the year to scuffle.
Bob Jones lost its third straight game Friday night, falling 24-16 to Grissom at Milton Frank Stadium. The Patriots (3-4, 2-3) are currently in a tie for fourth place in region play, but have already lost to all three teams they are tied with (Austin, Buckhorn and Grissom).
The Tigers had a solid running game against the Bob Jones defense, piling up 268 yards rushing.
Thomas Oliver had 17 carries for 164 yards and a touchdown and Graham Roderick had 18 yards on six carries. He scored two touchdowns.
Grissom led 14-0 before Bob Jones' Jordan Busing cut into that lead with a 1-yard touchdown run with 6:06 left in the second quarter. Chandler Brooks' 25-yard field goal with eight seconds left in the first half gave Grissom a 17-7 lead at halftime.
Warren Wilkins had a second half touchdown of 3 yards and Jakob Anderson hit a 36-yard field goal, but it wasn't enough as the Tigers picked up their second region win of the season and second overall.
The Patriots will try to regroup as they return home to Madison City Schools Stadium tonight and face Hazel Green (0-5, 1-6). The game is Bob Jones' homecoming and kicks off at 7 p.m.
There will be a dance in the Bob Jones gymnasium from 8-11:30 p.m. Saturday evening.
