Clyde Wilson

Clyde Joseph Wilson, 92, founder of Wilson Lumber Company, died March 10, 2007.

Mr. Wilson was born on a farm in rural Winston County. He moved to Huntsville in 1949 to take over a fledgling lumberyard.


He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Elmira Lott Wilson; three sons, Ken Wilson and wife Stella, Stephen Wilson and wife Lisa, all of Huntsville, and Rick Wilson and wife Chris of Madison; four daughters, Carol Wilson Williams of Marietta, Ga., Sue Wilson Landman and husband Larry, Ann Wilson Redford and husband Johnny, and Charlotte Wilson Woo and husband Tom, all of Huntsville; 16 grandchildren, Chandra Williams Ford and husband Danny of Fairhope, Kirk Williams, Margaret Landman, and Rachel Woo Forrester and husband Rob, all of Atlanta, Joe Wilson and wife Melisa of Birmingham, Robb Wilson and wife Cassie, and Jonathan Landman and wife Jennifer, all of Owens Cross Roads, Paula Wilson Claunch and husband Billy, Andrew Cartee, Mark Wilson, and Lauren Wilson, all of Huntsville; Eric Cartee and wife Mindy of Franklin, Tenn., Amy Cartee Varnon and husband Billy of Brownsboro, Kathryn Wilson Korotky and husband Jeff, and Russ Wilson and wife Stacey, all of Madison; 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Inez Wilson of Birmingham, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were March 11, 2007 at Southwood Presbyterian Church with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville was in charge of the arrangements.
