For art lovers who didn't get enough to whet their appetite at Panoply, or for those who desire something smaller and more low-key, the Monrovia Artfest has arrived just in time.

Artistic Minds, located at Jeff Rd. and Old Monrovia Rd in northwest Huntsville, is planning its second annual Monrovia Artfest this Saturday, May 12, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. There are more than 45 vendors signed up for the event, displaying paintings, pottery, stained glass, jewelry, flowers, photography, sculpture and food.

The event is free and open to the public.

"It's a great place to find a last-minute Mother's Day gift," said Vonda Bobo of Artistic Minds.

The festival will also feature musical entertainment, from performers like Christina Lynn, Dixie Deisel, Randall Stewart, Pin Hook Creek and Csilla Elam.

"Last year was our first year and it was very successful," Bobo said. "The community came out in full support of the arts."

Scott Wiley will be demonstrating the art of making Raku pottery, and children will be able to explore their creative side with various crafts and activities.

Artistic Minds art students will display their work at the festival, as well as the Sparkman photography department and Monrovia Middle School art department.

"This is also a good day to visit the Artistic Minds gallery and enroll in our summer art camps," Bobo said.

The Artistic Minds gallery is open Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
