(Updated: Thursday, November 8, 2007 12:22 PM CST)

On Nov. 10, the Alabama Vietnam Moving Memorial will make a stop in Madison at Wal Mart on Madison Blvd. The visit is sponsored by Women on Wheels.

The Alabama Moving Memorial, the only one of its kind, is constructed of black Zimbabwe granite and weighs 5,880 lbs. It carries the names of 1,209 fallen heroes from Alabama. The memorial and truck are owned by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 416 in Jefferson County, Ala. The names displayed were obtained from the official list from the National Archives.

There will be paper provided to make rubbings of a soldier's name.

The memorial will be in the Wal Mart parking lot from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
