Horizon looking for volunteer tutors

(Updated: Friday, January 25, 2008 10:47 AM CST)

Horizon Elementary School, located at 7855 Old Madison Pike in Madison, is looking for new tutors to assist its volunteer tutoring program for struggling students. The goal is to enrich the lives of children at that school by encouraging and developing their academic skills through interaction with supportive adults. Caring people are needed to give of their time for one-on-one assistance with everything from study strategies, to basic skills such as letters and colors, to math, to just getting the children excited about reading. No teaching skills are needed. Anyone can improve the life of a Horizon child with just one free hour per week during the school day. Members of the community are encouraged to participate. If interested, please contact Michele Morris, Tutoring Coordinator, at 461-1785 or mmorris@knology.net.
