Madison Record offering BJHS commemorative book

(Updated: Thursday, May 1, 2008 10:37 AM CDT)

Bob Jones' first state championship basketball season was a six-month journey of a team with plenty of talent and high aspirations.

Now that special season can be relived in a commemorative book chronicling the Lady Patriots' mission for a title that started in October.

The Madison County Record, in cooperation with Bob Jones High School, will publish a 60-page book looking back on the Lady Patriots' incredible season and Class 6A state championship.

The 8x10 book, with full-color photos and stories featuring the team's drive for the state championship, will be available in early May. This keepsake edition of the Lady Patriots' championship will be treasured by players, students, alumni and fans.

"Bob Jones' girls basketball team certainly enjoyed an historic season that culminated with a state championship in Birmingham," said Madison County Record editor Leada Gore. "Our goal was to capture the magic of that special season with a fitting keepsake. I think this book does just that."

Proceeds from the book will be donated to the Bob Jones High School athletic department.

Pre-orders for the book are currently being accepted.

The book may be pre-ordered for $29.95 plus sales tax - a total cost of $32.35. Pre-orders will be accepted through May 31st.

Shipping is also available for an additional cost of $5 per book.

The book will retail for $34.95 after the first printing.

The Record will accept payments by mail or at the office, located at 151-C Hughes Road (Hartlex Antiques shopping center, across from City Hall). You can pay by cash, check, money order or credit card. However, cash payments should be made at the Record office.

When the books arrive, those who purchased them will be notified by telephone. The books can then be picked up at the Madison County Record office.
