Local retailers offer up Mother's Day gift ideas

(Updated: Thursday, May 8, 2008 9:32 AM CDT)

Mother's Day is coming up this Sunday and some local area retailers have some ideas that could brighten your mother's day or in some cases electrify it.

Brock's Jewelers, located at 8760 Madison Blvd., offers some of the more traditional gifts, such as diamond studded earrings and rings. Brock's moved to the area on Mother's Day weekend in 1994 and ever since has held an anniversary sale to celebrate the occasion. If you don't feel like buying mom another set of earrings Brock's also offers what is called a Chamilia bracelet. The bracelets start out at about $32 dollars for a silver one and can go up to $950. The unique quality of the bracelet is that you can design it yourself by selecting what charms to place on it. The charms are threaded so they actually screw on to the bracelet so you don't have to worry about them falling off.

Charms range in price from $11 for a spacer to $360 for a Mickey Mouse charm with diamond eyes.

If jewelry is not what you are looking for then Heritage Florist and Gifts located at 1871 Slaughter Rd., offers some other options.

They can prepare a variety of different flower arrangements, starting at $25, but they also offer things like garden decorations, house decorations, customizable jewelry and Arthur Court Designs. They are open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you plan on having them do a flower arrangement for you then the sooner you can get it in on Friday the better.

If none of those options suit your mother's taste there is still hope of finding that perfect present. Madison Guns and Ammo is also having a Mother's Day sale. If you purchase a taser for your mother you will also receive a $20 gift certificate for yourself.

Madison Guns and Ammo is located at 7830 Highway 72 Suite 285.
