Bennie Durham Jr.
Bennie Edward Durham Jr., 75, of Madison died Nov. 11, 2008.
He was born in Leavenworth, Kan., and was raised in El Reno, Okla. He served in the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Air Force. After his service, his career was in general aviation and commercial airlines working for Braniff Airlines for 16 years. Then he became owner and president of Tejas Airways, a leasing, maintenance and flying school of small aircraft in Addison, Texas. He and his wife moved to Madison in 1984 to take care of his father. He worked with the city of Huntsville as a detention officer and later with Whitesburg Baptist Church maintaining a fleet of buses and vans. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Libby Durham Sr. and one sister, Joanne Goldy. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Glenda; five children, Leabeth Durham, Scott Durham, Joni Meyer, Pam Lawson, and Gene Moore; one niece, Kathy Tangney; one nephew, Phillip McNaught; and 11 grandchildren.
